In the UAE, the COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for people of age 16 and above. The Ministry of Health and Prevention, announced on 18th January that the eligibility for the vaccine has now been changed to 16 years and above instead of 18 years and above.
The UAE is offering all residents and citizens a vaccine manufactured by Chinese state-backed pharmaceutical giant Sinopharm. The Chinese manufactured vaccine, Sinopharm, is available in the UAE (for free of charge) right now at various vaccination centers across the emirate.
In Dubai, apart from the Sinopharm vaccine, a second vaccine is also available which is also given for free of charge. Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available across Dubai’s vaccination centers. On 9th December, the Sinopharm vaccine was approved by the UAE government and the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was approved two weeks later.
