Scientists in the UAE have developed an electric face mask that, according to them, is capable of eliminating viruses that penetrate the mask. Two electrodes are located on either side of the electric face mask. These zap any viruses that travel through them with a mild electrical charge, ultimately killing them.
The idea for the face masks has been trademarked by the UAE team. They are now searching for investors to assist them to bring the masks to market. They also claim that with the correct investment, the masks could be mass-produced and offered at a low cost.

“These masks can be multi-layer,” said Dr Al Ahmad who’s been working on the project since the start of the pandemic. One layer will have electrodes and there will be spacing between these electrodes to allow for breathing. Whenever something is coming, like a virus, it will burn. Like the lamps that kill the mosquito in your house. It will kill it.”
And, owing to the little coin-sized battery, it’s perfectly safe and won’t zap the wearer. The technique may be applied in almost any type of apparel. And the research suggests it can be modified to target other types of viruses.
