New COVID-19 Rules Announced By Dubai For New Year’s Eve Celebrations

The authorities reaffirmed on Tuesday that wearing face masks is required for everyone participating in any New Year’s Eve party in Dubai, whether indoors or outside. Failure to do so is a penalty punishable by a fine of AED 3,000.

On Tuesday, the Emirate’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management met to examine the city’s preparations for the celebrations. It authorised the precautionary measures as well as the instructions for festivities.

“Every member of the community should stringently observe the preventive guidelines in place, including wearing face masks and observing social distancing, to protect their families and others,” said Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management.

He said that strict safety measures are still being implemented as part of the government’s efforts to keep the people safe. This New Year’s Eve, the public’s adherence to the guidelines is critical to Dubai’s continued success in combating the pandemic.

“Dubai has continuously monitored local and global developments to take the decisive action necessary to protect the community and implement precautionary measures outlined by local and international health authorities,” Sheikh Mansoor said.

The coordinated actions of frontline authorities and the integrated pandemic response plan, together with public collaboration, helped Dubai to halt the virus’s spread, he noted.

The public may view the New Year’s Eve fireworks from 29 different places around Dubai, allowing everyone to enjoy the festivities in a safe, secure, and socially separated atmosphere.
