With over one million passengers expected during the Christmas holiday, Emirates has cautioned travellers to arrive even earlier this year. Emirates recommends passengers arrive at least three hours before departure. They’ve also warned that anybody who comes with less than an hour until the aircraft departs would be turned away.
The airline anticipates that around 250,000 passengers will pass through the airport this weekend. And they expect that between December 12 and the beginning of next year, about 1.1 million travellers will pass through DXB airport!

To aid with the Christmas rush, Emirates has deployed 32 additional self-service bag drop devices and 16 new self-service kiosks. They’ll also have extra workers ready to assist with the additional passengers. People are also encouraged to check-in online up to 48 hours before their departure.
Boarding will begin 45 minutes before the flight departs, with gates opening 90 minutes before departure. After that, the gate will close 20 minutes before departure.
