Dubai Can Initiative Launched By Sheikh Hamdan Includes 34 Water Refilling Stations

The Dubai Can initiative inaugurated by Sheikh Hamdan seeks to reduce plastic waste by establishing 34 public water refilling stations across the city. The stations are conveniently positioned across the city near malls, parks, beaches and significant attractions. They will also provide fresh drinking water at 10°C, which is ideal for those hot summer days.

The goal of the Dubai Can initiative is to encourage individuals to bring their water bottles on outings throughout town. Instead of purchasing throwaway bottles, residents and visitors may just replenish at one of the water stations, so fostering a “refill culture.”

His Majesty Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, unveiled the Dubai Can project on Twitter. Every water station across the city will meet the highest hygienic requirements while adhering to municipal, healthcare, and federal laws. This involves delivering clean and safe drinking water that has been tested in compliance with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and World Health Organization (WHO) standards.

We hope Dubai Can set in motion a new environmental movement across our city and the wider UAE, transforming the mindsets of people so that we can achieve positive change for a more sustainable future,” Al Marri said.
