After a hectic UAE National Day weekend filled with entertainment, fireworks, and parades, visitor numbers at Expo 2020 Dubai increased to more than 5.6 million. According to officials, the world’s fair has had 5,663,960 visitors since its doors opened to the public on October 1.
Over the last two months, residents and visitors have taken advantage of a variety of ticket offerings, including free admission for everybody on December 2 and a half-price daily ticket throughout November.
The huge event venue in Dubai attracted 5,383 international leaders, including ministers, presidents, prime ministers, and heads of state, during October and November. In all, it has held 10,461 events.
Sconaid McGeachin, senior vice president of communications for Expo 2020 Dubai, stated that six out of ten tourists now have an Expo season pass, and the number of repeat visitors has surpassed 1.2 million.
“Throughout November, 28 per cent of visits came from an outside country,” she said. “Many visited from countries including India, France Germany, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UK.” “In line with the normal tourism rush during the festive season, we expect this number to increase significantly as we move forward.”
Ms McGeachin said that virtual-visit counts had reached 25 million and that over 600,000 journeys to the world’s fair were made utilising the free Expo bus travel service. In addition, the Dubai Metro has carried 2.2 million visitors to Expo. Over the previous two months, the Expo school programme has drawn around 250,000 pupils to the world’s fair.
