A breathtaking total lunar eclipse, famously known as a “Blood Moon,” is set to take over the night sky tonight, Thursday, March 13 and Friday, March 14, 2025. According to the Dubai Astronomy Group (DAG), the Moon will pass through Earth’s shadow, getting it’s name from the deep red colour it becomes during this time – an eerie yet mesmerising sight for those lucky enough to witness it. But the question still stands, will the Blood Moon be visible in the UAE? I have all the details you want to know, so keep reading to find out more.

Who Can See The Blood Moon?
I can’t beat around the bush too much longer, so here comes the bad news – the Blood Moon will not be visible from the UAE, unfortunately. The total eclipse will be visible across North America, South America, and the Western Hemisphere, while parts of Western Africa and Europe will experience a partial eclipse, with no fancy telescopes or special gear are needed. Sounds like a great time to be on holiday in these parts of the world.
When Is The Next Big Astronomical Event In The UAE?

If you’re in Dubai and feeling a little left out (or big time FOMO like me), here’s when you can catch the next big astronomical event – on Tuesday night, August 12, 2025, the Perseids Meteor Shower will light up the sky with an incredible 150 meteors per hour!
It may seem like a long wait, but keep your eyes on the skies, and stay tuned to Gulf Buzz, if any other exciting space events come up, we’ll be the first to let you know!
