Virat Kohli States His Reason To Take Paternity Leaves

Three months ago, cricketers Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma announced their pregnancy. Their baby is due in January 2021, and Virat Kohli wanted to experience parenthood in the best possible way, so he decided to take paternity leave.

“The decision was made before the selection meeting that I will be flying back before the first Test. It was purely based on the fact that there was a quarantine period in both ways. I wanted to be back in time to be with my wife for the birth of our first child”, said Virat.

Being a cricketer, he has to travel a lot and sometimes he is gone for months. Since the best moments with your child are the early ones, he decided to be there for his child and his wife. “It is very, very special and a beautiful moment in our lives and that was the reason for my decision that was communicated to the selectors”, said Virat.

BCCI granted his leave, which means that he will now play only the first match from the four test matches that are about to happen in Australia. He said even though he has been in a very good form in Australia, having a baby is an important aspect of his life as well.

“It can be a very intimidating experience if you are not ready mentally and (not have the) skills. In every sport they are very tough, the crowd can be tough on travelling players and rightly so. But, if you perform well, you get a lot of respect. As a sportsman, I am a big fan of it. The stadiums are amazing, always a nice tour full of challenges”, said Virat.
