The fuel prices for the most-awaited month of the year has just been announced! Oh, why it’s the most awaited month? Simple because October’s the month that rings in the winter season – shorter days, breezy evenings and cooler nights! While the temperature is dipping, we’re eagerly waiting to know if the fuel prices are dipping as well. But, guess what? Unfortunately it isn’t. In fact, there is a tiny nudge up at the pump!
Fuel Prices For The Month Of October
The UAE Fuel Price Committee shared the news fuel rates this morning, as they always do, one day prior to the beginning of the new month. So, let’s delve into the numbers right away. Here’s what’s changing this October:
Starting October 1, Super 98 petrol will cost AED 2.77 a litre, as opposed to AED 2.70 in September. As for Special 95 petrol, the cost will be AED 2.66 per litre, in comparison to this month’s AED 2.58. E-Plus will also show a spike in October, with the fuel being charged at AED 2.58 litre, as opposed to AED 2.51 a litre in September.
What about diesel drivers? Do they stand a chance of enjoying fuel price drops? We wish, but even diesel has climbed to AED 2.71 a litre. In the month of September, diesel drivers were charged a rate of AED 2.66.
In September, we had observed that the fuel prices spiked a little following a dip in August. So, with the announcement of October month’s fuel prices, it seems that this is the second consecutive month that we’re getting hit with a price rise.
So, Where’s The Silver Lining?
Well, the silver lining is waiting right outside your door! Yes, it’s the winter season, people! And with the onset of winter, we can finally head outdoors. Ditch your cars this month and hop onto public transport to get across the city! Or even better, just take a stroll outside, pop in to your favourite eatery, forget all about your parking woes and dig into your comfort food.
And if that doesn’t cheer you up, here’s another little nugget to hold on to: fuel prices were much steeper last year. Yep, rewind to August 2024, when stepping outside felt like walking into a toaster oven. Back then, Super 98 petrol stood at AED 3.05, Super 95 at AED 2.93, and E-Plus at AED 2.80. Painful, right? And that was in peak summer, when we couldn’t even walk five steps without breaking into a sweat. So, there, I’ve given you two reasons to smile this October! Cheaper fuel compared to 2024 and the joy of finally being able to enjoy the outdoors without melting. If that’s not a win-win, then I seriously don’t know what is.
