Imagine hitting the beach without having to worry about accessibility. Especially if you’re visually impaired or a person of determination. Abu Dhabi just made that dream a reality! Say hi to the UAE’s first-ever beach designed specifically with their needs in mind. Nestled near Gate 3 of the Corniche, this 1,000-square-metre haven is open daily from 6 am until midnight (because inclusion shouldn’t come with a curfew). Just a heads-up: swimming’s off-limits after sunset!
This project is the brainchild of Abu Dhabi City Municipality and the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination, and it’s giving Year of the Community 2025 a powerful head start.

Why This Beach Is So Special
We’re talking about thoughtful design with all the bells and whistles (literally). Here’s what this accessibility-first beach is bringing to the table:
- People of determination (and their beach bestie ) can enjoy free access to the sand and sea, plus complimentary transport for them and the elderly -because good vibes shouldn’t come with a cab fare, right?
- The beach features paved guidance paths and braille signage that lead to the lifeguard-supervised swimming area, along with a braille-printed service guide that’s helpful for all ages.
- There’s even a smart walkway complete with guiding ropes and alert bells – so you can literally walk the talk and hear it too.
- For those looking to float stress-free, there are floating chairs designed for maximum chill. And just in case a rogue seashell crashes the party, first-aid services are on standby.
Throw in clean restrooms, free drinking water (hydration is key!), and reserved parking spots, and you’ve got an inclusive beach day done right – starting from the parking lot to the shoreline.

A Beach for Everyone
This beach isn’t just an Instagrammable moment – it’s officially recognised by the World Disability Union. That means it’s not only cool, it’s certified cool.
But more than that, this space is designed with purpose: to truly empower individuals with visual impairments. It’s about real inclusion – not just a ramp and a nod.
Why This Matters!
Because inclusion isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about creating spaces where everyone, regardless of ability, can soak up the sun and make memories. And this beach? It’s a shining example of how accessibility, when done with heart and intention, can feel seamless and joyful.
Kudos to Abu Dhabi for leading the way and showing us what the future of inclusive public spaces should look like. Trust us – this beach isn’t just inclusive, it’s iconic.
