There is nothing better than in Dubai than a good beach day. Dubai and beaches might as well be synonymous to each other in the dictionary by now. Dubai truly has a plethora of vast beaches to choose. A lot of which are private and commercialised beaches that are only exclusive to hotel guests. However, today we have specially curated a list of Dubai’s top free beaches for all your summer tan plans. So sit back, relax and pick a new one to go to each weekend of the summer.
1. Kite Beach
Prepare to be blown away by the excitement and energy pulsating through Kite Beach. This trendy hotspot offers an array of experiences for all ages, from chic cafes and gourmet food shacks to a skate park and a thrilling hanging rope obstacle course. Embark on a kite surfing adventure, paddleboard or kayak across the sparkling waters, or opt for a refreshing run along the impressive 14km beachside track. Kite Beach has it all and more. Despite its rapid growth, this beach maintains a distinctive character that sets it apart. Visit Kite Beach, located behind Jumeirah Beach Road on Street 5a, Umm Suqeim, and let the adventure unfold.
2. La Mer
Close your eyes and envision a bustling beachside town straight out of your wildest dreams— that’s La Mer. This extraordinary destination boasts shimmering blue seas, soft white sands, palm-fringed pathways, and charming beach huts adorned with funky street art and twinkling fairy lights. But wait, there’s more! La Mer isn’t just a beach—it’s a trendy hub for dining and shopping, featuring fast food spots, gourmet ice cream trucks, high-end restaurants, and so much more. Prepare to be amazed by this exceptional beach experience that goes above and beyond the ordinary.
3. Sunrise Beach
An exhilarating adventure awaits you at Sunrise Beach, and all you need is a car—preferably a 4×4—a picnic, and all the necessary beach essentials (towels, toys, hats, and sun lotion). With no restaurants or toilets in sight, you’ll have the vast expanse of sand all to yourself. Take advantage of this opportunity for an intense sand running workout, while enjoying a mesmerising view of the distant Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. Find this slice of paradise at the corner of Al Athar Road and JBR, right under the canal bridge in Jumeirah 2.
4. Sunset Beach
Prepare for a sublime beach experience at Sunset Beach, the lesser-known sibling of Kite Beach. Enjoy the serenity of the wide milky-white sands, often deserted in the early morning—an ideal spot for a tranquil ocean-side stroll before starting your workday. Throughout the day, the beach maintains a calm ambiance, making it perfect for avid surfers, fishing enthusiasts, and families seeking a peaceful retreat. Children will have a blast in the playground, while BBQ areas and a pop-up library with free Wi-Fi cater to everyone’s needs. And don’t forget to witness the breathtaking sunset, as the beach’s name suggests. Discover this haven of tranquility at 2C Street.
Dubai’s liveliest beach destination awaits you at JBR Beach, where there’s something for everyone. From the break of dawn to the magical sunset and beyond, this vibrant sandy stretch, coupled with its bustling promenade, brims with endless possibilities and activities. Children’s play areas, an inflatable Aqua Park, and a plethora of sun loungers, restaurants, cafes, and beach clubs ensure non-stop entertainment. And if you’re on a mission to enjoy a fantastic day without spending a dirham, arrive early to secure a prime spot on the sand and revel in the awe-inspiring views of Ain Dubai while sipping on the refreshing water you brought from home. Discover this gem of a beach, located opposite JBR.
6. Jebel Ali Public Beach
Escape to tranquility and immerse yourself in the unspoiled beauty of Jebel Ali Public Beach. With its picturesque surroundings and a less-developed atmosphere compared to other Dubai beaches, this coastal haven offers the perfect setting for relaxation. Simply spread your towel on the warm sand, feel the gentle caress of the sun on your skin, and indulge in your latest book or podcast. While amenities may be limited, fear not—there’s a small kiosk selling snacks, ice creams, and cold drinks, and you may even stumble upon a delightful pop-up coffee or food truck. It’s no wonder that Jebel Ali Beach is considered one of the finest free beaches in Dubai. Find this serene paradise at Mina Jebel Ali.
7. Mercato Beach
Experience the charm of a neighborhood beach at Mercato. While it may not be the most awe-inspiring beach in town, it’s the perfect destination for old-school beach holiday activities. Delight in exploring rock pools, building sand castles, collecting shells, and paddling along the shore. Take a break from the sun’s rays and treat your family to a well-deserved ice cream from Mercato Mall. Alternatively, elevate your experience by indulging in a satisfying lunch at 3Fils in nearby Jumeirah Fishing Harbour—it’s a treat you won’t soon forget. To reach Mercato Beach, make a u-turn once you’ve passed Mercato Mall into 13a Street, Jumeirah 2.
8. Black Palace
Black Palace, situated on On Al Sufouh Street is one of Dubai’s much lesser known beaches. And that is probably why they call it the secret beach. (Maybe I shouldn’t have put it up on this list…) well I guess the cat is out of the bag now. The beach is open 24/7 and is placed right between the Royal Fortresses. Beach goers get to have the most stunning view of the Burj Al Arab on the right, and The Palm Jumeirah in front of you. And If you go at just the right time during the evening, you may get lucky enough to witness the mist gorgeous sunset views right from the leisure of your own car, right up front at the shoreline or at the comfort of the cosy sport you sound on the soft warm sand of black palace beach.
9. Nessnass Beach
Calling all water sports enthusiasts! Nessnass is your ultimate playground, where kite surfers dominate the scene, but there’s plenty of space for paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, and sailing as well. After working up an appetite, head over to the turquoise-hued Feels cafe for a refreshing coffee and a wholesome feast. Discover the hidden treasures of Nessnass Street, behind Sunset Mall, and embark on an aquatic adventure like never before.
