In the near future, Al Fahidi, Abu Hail, Al Karama, and Al Quoz Creative Zone will become entirely car-free! The main goal of this significant change is to enhance residents’ quality of life by making public spaces more walkable, sustainable, and vibrant! While your commute to these areas might take longer because of all the walking/cycling, at least you won’t be stuck behind the same car for 20 minutes. Dubai’s Future – A Walkable City
The announcement was made by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister. He highlighted that the goal is to reduce reliance on cars and create urban spaces where people can walk, bike, and socialise freely. This change ties in with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which focuses on enhancing infrastructure, sustainability, and community well-being.
