Natures buffs out there here is some good news for you. This weekend (3rd to 5th June) a Marine Festival Is happening near the Emirate of Sharjah! The Sir Bu Nair Festival, which takes place this weekend on Sir Bu Nair Island, is a maritime festival! Coral reef farming, marine turtle releases, races, volleyball matches, fishing competitions, a marina bike show, heritage rowing, and much more will be featured.
The United Arab Emirates’ Sir Bu Nair Island is located 110 kilometres north of Sharjah. It’s known for its gorgeous beaches, crystal clear water, and a plethora of coral and fish life in the area. Sir Bu Nair Island was established as a nature reserve by Emiri Decree No (25) issued by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
According to the official website, “The main goal of the event is to increase the awareness about the biodiversity in Sharjah’s marine life. This year the event will be held in two days and it will contain environment, cultural and heritage programmes.” The timings for the festival are 8 AM to 10 PM from June 3rd to June 5th.
