What’s The UAE Next Public Holiday?

Arafat Day & Eid Al Adha!

That’s right – the next big holiday on the UAE calendar is Arafat Day & Eid Al Adha! For those of you who are new to UAE and are wondering “We just completed Eid, how is there another one?” Here’s the difference between Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha:

  • Eid Al Fitr, marks the end of Ramadan and is all about feasting, gift-giving, and charity.
  • Eid Al Adha, on the other hand, is linked to the completion of Hajj, focusing on sacrifice, reflection, and prayer.

More importantly, the day before Eid Al Adha, Arafat Day, is considered one of the holiest days for Muslims. It commemorates the day Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered his final sermon and bore witness that Allah (SWT) perfected His religion. It is believed to be a time when sins are forgiven and prayers are most accepted.

When Will Arafat Day & Eid Al Adha Fall in 2025?

For 2025, the predicted dates are:

  • Dhu Al Hijjah 9 – Arafat Day: Thursday, June 5
  • Dhu Al Hijjah 10 to Dhu Al Hijjah 12 – Eid Al Adha: Friday, June 6 – Sunday, June 8

These dates are based on the lunar calendar, so officially confirmation will come with the moon sighting. However, looking at previous years, the UAE has usually declared a 4-day public holiday for this occasion – one day for Arafat Day and three days for Eid Al Adha. If things follow the usual pattern, we’re looking at a 4-day long weekend from Thursday, June 5, to Sunday, June 8!

The Perfect Mid-Year Break!

As we settle back into routine after Eid Al Fitr, it’s reassuring to know another break is around the corner! And with the summer heat kicking in already, a long weekend in June will be the perfect chance to unwind and recharge.

And if you’re a early bird planner, this is a golden opportunity. Combine your Eid Al Adha holiday with your summer travel plans! This way you can make the most of your leave without using too many of your precious paid vacation days.

So, be sure to stay tuned to Gulf Buzz for the latest updates. We’ll let you know the official public holiday dates and the best recommendations to celebrate Eid Al Adha as we get closer to the time!
