DXB connects travellers to 269 destinations across 106 countries, served by 101 international airlines. Its top destination countries include India, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Pakistan. Not only does DXB dominate international rankings, but it also holds the second spot among the busiest airports in the world when factoring in both domestic and international flights. OAG explained that these rankings are based on scheduled one-way airline capacity for the year 2024. In the first half of the year alone, DXB welcomed 44.9 million passengers, with India and China driving much of this demand. The airport’s full-year traffic stats will be announced in early 2025.

o keep up with growing demand, Dubai’s government approved a $35 billion passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport in April 2024. This colossal project aims to make it the largest airport in the world, capable of handling 260 million passengers annually.
