Mall of the Emirates has officially removed its paid parking barriers and installed sensors in preparation for a new barrierless paid parking system. This upgrade, first announced in October last year, will also roll out at City Centre Deira and City Centre Mirdif. Come with me to find out how parking at malls is going to become smoother and much faster.
How Does The Barrierless Paid Parking System Work?
Instead of stopping at a gate, waiting for a ticket, and dealing with exit queues, the new system will work seamlessly in the background. Here’s a look at how it all works:
- Cameras will scan your license plate as you enter.
- You’ll receive an SMS or Parkin app notification with details of your parking session.
- If charges apply, you can pay online through the app or website – no more fumbling for cash or tickets!
According to Parkin CEO Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, this system will make parking much more efficient, reduce congestion, and improve traffic flow at some of Dubai’s busiest malls.

Will There Be Changes To Parking Fees?
If you’re worried about new costs, don’t be! The pricing remains exactly as it was before:
- Mall of the Emirates – First 4 hours free
- City Centre Deira – First 3 hours free
- City Centre Mirdif – Always free
For those who stay longer, you can still validate your ticket after shopping to waive any fees. Khalifa Bin Braik, CEO of MAF Asset Management, confirmed that the goal of this upgrade is to better manage parking, not increase costs.
With fewer delays, faster exits, and no more ticket machines, Dubai’s shopping experience is getting even more convenient. The next time you head to the mall, enjoy the ease of ticketless parking that you can pay for with the conversation of your phone! Make sure to have the Parkin app downloaded on your phone for ease of parking throughout the city.
