What Determines The Start Of Summer?
According to astronomers and meteorologists, the start of summer doesn’t only rely on temperatures reaching scorching and unbearable levels, it’s also tied to an annual astronomical event called the summer solstice. This marks the official beginning of the season for countries in the Northern Hemisphere.
What Is The Summer Solstice?

When Is The Summer Solstice In The UAE?
If we go according to the stars, this year, the summer solstice in Dubai will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025. On this day, we’ll have around 3 hours and 10 minutes more daylight compared to the December solstice (which marks the beginning of winter).
So, When Does Summer Start?
Taking all of this into consideration, summer in the UAE will officially start from June 21st and last till around September 22 – if we follow the the astronomical definition. But let’s be real – our summer heat stretches way beyond those dates. Typically, the most intense heat kicks in from late May and lasts well into October. But this year?
