The Stars Of BITS Pilani Dubai Campus Have Accomplished A Ginormous Milestone!

Formula Student Netherlands is Europe’s largest and most established student engineering competition. It challenges students to understand, design and develop a formula-style racing car. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the event is scheduled from 11-14 July 2022 at Assen TT Circuit.

During the fall of 2021, Motorsport and BITS Pilani Dubai Campus collaborated with one another and an idea was formed towards building something remarkable from scratch. This is how team ‘Al Fursan’ was formed of BITS Dubai Motorsports Club in association with M.A.H.Y Khoory & Co. LLC.

Team Al Fursan is the only team selected for Formula Student Netherlands from the Middle East and North Africa region. They will compete with 18 teams from some of the best universities all over the world.

The 14-member team comprising engineering students from multi-disciplinary groups of BITS Pilani Dubai Campus came together in the fall of 2021. Their sole purpose was to design a car focused on ‘Driver Ergonomics’.

The car was hence designed specifically, considering the health, comfort and safety of a driver, drawing upon biology, psychology, engineering and design that created vehicle environments in which drivers had a lower chance of injury. The team has built a Formula Student car in BITS Pilani Dubai campus, adhering to the rules and regulations of the Formula Student Rule book.

The team won 3rd position in Business Pitch Presentation category finals of Formula Student Netherlands, winning one of the esteemed categories in the competition.

Co-Captain Mr. Shobal Philip Roy said, “It took us all 9 months to plan, execute and complete the car and I appreciate my team for their constant support and cooperation throughout all stages of development.”

Co-Captain Mr. Adhav Kumaravel said, “The entire team is eager to learn, adapt and execute things that are new to them under difficult circumstances. We aim to develop more cars in the coming years that will be eco-friendlier and lean with high performance and efficiency.

The entire team thanks all the sponsors that supported them with monetary and technical help. The team hopes they extend their support in the coming years as well.”

We could not be happier for these talented heroes and wish them all the very best in all their future endeavors.
