Dubai is all set to build a $ 1.1 billion power plant that will generate electricity from waste. It will be one of the world’s largest power plants. In Abu Dhabi, two smaller power plants projects burn about two-thirds of the household waste the Emirate produces. Although all these projects would make it difficult for the UAE to achieve its goal of reducing carbon emissions (since the burning of waste releases greenhouse gases) it is better in the long run. These plants will generate hydrogen fuel which in turn can be used to power garbage trucks.
