UAE Travellers Must Declare Cash, Valuables Over AED 60,000
- The UAE authorities have clarified that there is no cash limit for passengers travelling to or from the country, but any amount exceeding AED 60,000 must be declared.
- Adults over 18 years of age are allowed to carry an amount not exceeding AED 60,000, or its equivalent in foreign currency, without disclosing it to customs officers.
- However, if the amount exceeds this limit, travellers must disclose it through the ‘Afsah’ system or other approved disclosure systems at the country’s border crossing points.
- In addition, the cash and other precious items carried by passengers under the age of 18, including children and adolescents, must be added to the set limit of their parents or accompanying adult family members.
- To facilitate the disclosure process, the authority has launched an online system via the ICA website and its mobile application to enable travellers to register their data quickly and easily before and during their travel.
