A Rare Planetary Parade To Appear Over UAE This Weekend During Ramadan

Mark your calendars for Sunday, 21st February 2026, because the night sky over the UAE is putting on a rare show. A rare planetary parade will appear just after sunset, with several planets lining up in a beautiful display across the horizon. With Ramadan bringing quieter evenings and moments of reflection, it feels like the perfect time to pause, and step outside. Come with me to find out all the best ways you can have the best planetary experience.

What Exactly Is A Planetary Parade?

A planetary parade happens when several planets in our solar system appear lined up in the night sky from our point of view on Earth. They aren’t actually close to each other in space (still millions of kilometres apart) but because they all orbit the Sun along the same general path, they can appear to form a glowing line across the sky.

On 21st February, planets including Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible, with some of the more distant planets also part of the alignment. The brighter ones can be seen with the naked eye, shining like steady stars that don’t twinkle. Others may require binoculars or a telescope to fully appreciate them.

A Guided Stargazing Experience At Platinum Heritage

For those who want to turn this into a full experience, Platinum Heritage is offering its Private Night Safari & Astronomy Experience inside the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.

This experience is led by professional Conservation Guides who take guests into the heart of the desert before ending the evening with a guided astronomy session under some of the clearest skies in Dubai. Advanced telescopes are provided, allowing you to see planets and stars in far more detail than the naked eye ever could. The session also explores how celestial navigation historically shaped Bedouin life, especially during the holy month, when the moon and stars guided travel and helped mark time.

Ramadan Night In The Desert

Beyond the planetary parade itself, Platinum Heritage is also hosting a series of immersive Ramadan desert evenings. Guests can enjoy traditional Iftar in a Bedouin-style setting, listen to Emirati storytelling, watch live drumming and Yola performances, and take part in stargazing sessions that explore the relationship between Ramadan and the constellations.

It’s the kind of experience that blends culture, history and nature in a way that feels both meaningful and memorable. Watching a rare planetary alignment during Ramadan adds an extra layer of reflection to the evening.

A City Alternative At The Dubai Balloon

If heading deep into the desert isn’t your plan, there’s still a way to enjoy elevated views of the sky. The Dubai Balloon at Atlantis, The Palm is offering a special Ramadan promotion, giving residents and visitors the chance to rise 225 metres above Palm Jumeirah.

From that height, you can enjoy panoramic views at sunrise, sunset or in the evening. While it won’t offer the same darkness as the desert, it’s a family-friendly way to combine a unique experience with beautiful skyline and sea views, and possibly catch a glimpse of the planets as they begin to appear.

UAE Desert Spots For Stargazing

If you’re planning your own camping trip to watch the parade, there are several well-known desert spots across the UAE that are popular for night sky viewing.

Dubai: Al Qudra Desert is a fan-favourite thanks to its wide open space and relatively low light pollution. Many residents head there with blankets, camping gear and hot tea for peaceful evenings under the stars.

Abu Dhabi: For even darker skies, Al Qua’a near Al Ain is often described as one of the best places in the UAE to see the Milky Way. It’s further out, but the clarity of the sky makes it worth the drive for serious stargazers.

Sharjah: the Mleiha Desert offers both natural beauty and historical surroundings. It’s a great option for families who want a mix of exploration and stargazing in one trip.

A Night Worth Stepping Out For

Planetary alignments like this don’t happen every week. The evening of Monday, 21st February 2026 gives us a rare chance to pause, step outside, and witness something extraordinary unfolding above us.

Whether you choose a guided astronomy experience, a cultural Ramadan evening in the desert, a peaceful camping trip with friends, or a scenic rise above the city, this planetary parade is a reminder to slow down and simply look up.
