A New Super Highway For The UAE
If approved, this new highway will be the fourth major route connecting the emirates, standing proudly alongside the E11 (Al Ittihad Road), E311 (Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road), and E611 (Emirates Road). Together, these highways already handle more than 850,000 vehicles zipping between Dubai and the Northern Emirates every day. But with growing traffic and a fast-expanding population, this new corridor aims to take things up a notch. With 12 lanes and the ability to manage up to 360,000 trips per day.
Upgrades Coming To Existing Highways
The UAE isn’t stopping at just building a new road. Our existing ones are also getting a serious glow-up too! The Etihad Road, Emirates Road, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road are all set for major lane expansions to ease traffic jams and improve travel flow.
Here’s what’s changing:
- Etihad Road (E11) will expand by six lanes (three in each direction) boosting capacity by 60% and bringing it to 12 lanes total.
- Emirates Road (E611) will widen to 10 lanes, increasing capacity by 65% and cutting travel time by almost half (45%).
- Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) will also grow to 10 lanes, improving its capacity by 45%.
From wider highways to entirely new routes. The country’s road network is getting a major upgrade that promises faster, safer, and more efficient journeys for everyone!
