Why The Schedule Changed
An earlier update had listed Tuesday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 3 as the official holidays. However, under a Cabinet resolution that came into effect on January 1, 2025, certain public holidays can be moved to the start or end of the week to allow for more coherent public holidays. This year, the dates were shifted accordingly. This rule does not apply to Eid holidays unless the Cabinet decides otherwise, which is what happened in this case.
The UAE’s unified holiday policy ensures that both public and private sector employees receive the same number of holidays throughout the year. It creates a balanced schedule and keeps things consistent for everyone nationwide.
