Starting January 1, 2026, single-use plastics will officially be out of the picture. Items like cups, lids, plates, cutlery, and containers will be banned nationwide. This step builds on the UAE’s ongoing sustainability efforts, moving the country toward a cleaner, greener future for all.
2. Smarter Parking Ahead
Parkin is introducing real-time updates for over 250,000 parking spaces across the UAE. Thanks to cameras, sensors, and digital systems, you’ll be able to see available spots instantly. Saving your time, fuel, and (most importantly) sanity during commutes.
3. All Aboard Etihad Rail
The long-awaited Etihad Rail passenger service is ready to roll in 2026, connecting 11 cities from Al Sila to Fujairah. Get ready to travel from Abu Dhabi to Dubai in just 57 minutes or reaching Fujairah in 105 minutes. Each train will carry up to 400 passengers with several trips per day, aiming to serve 36.5 million people annually by 2030. This is going to be a total game-changer for how people move across the country.
4. Banking Made Effortless
By March 2026, UAE banks will move away from SMS and email one-time passwords (OTPs), shifting instead to secure app-based verification. This upgrade means smoother, faster, and safer transactions for everyone.
5. Flying Into The Future
By 2026, electric air taxis could be soaring through UAE skies. These futuristic rides will carry four passengers at speeds of over 300 km/h. With vertiports planned near Dubai Mall, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Airport, and the American University of Dubai. You could even zip from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, or even Fujairah in under 30 minutes.
6. New Flight Routes Across Major Airlines
Etihad Airways is adding eight new destinations:
- Almaty
- Baku,
- Bucharest
- Krakow
- Salalah

- Yerevan
- And an exciting surprise route to be revealed in early 2026
Meanwhile, Emirates is tripling its London Gatwick flights, with 4 daily round trips starting February. With more flights to Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East, planning your next getaway just got easier than ever.
7. The One Visa For The GCC
