1. Free SIM Card On Arrival
Staying connected in Dubai is easy from the moment you land. After clearing immigration at Dubai International Airport (DXB), visitors can pick up a free SIM card from telecom counters inside the arrivals area. Dubai-based operator du offers a complimentary Tourist SIM valid for 90 days. This includes 1GB of free mobile data valid for 24 hours, ideal for maps, ride-hailing apps, and quick check-ins. Other telecom providers also offer tourist-friendly plans. Etisalat offers 10-day and 28-day options, while Virgin Mobile offers seven-day and 15-day packages, allowing travellers to choose the option that best suits their stay duration and budget.

2. Tourist Discount Card
The creme de la crem of visiting Dubai as a tourist! Along with your SIM card, tourists can pick up a free discount card at Dubai Airport. By downloading the ALSAADA Tourist Card app and scanning the QR code, visitors can register using their passport details and arrival date. Once activated, the digital card unlocks exclusive deals across Dubai. Discounts on the card apply to everything, including bank offers and health and beauty services. Perks also include car rentals and currency exchange services, which help travellers save while exploring the city.

3. Tax-Free Shopping
Tourists shopping in the UAE are eligible for tax-free purchases when they spend a minimum of AED 250 at participating outlets. While shopping, look out for the ‘Planet’ logo and request a Planet Tax Free form at checkout. Your passport will be scanned, and a ‘Tax Free’ tag will be attached to your receipt. To shop tax-free, visitors must validate their purchases at the airport within 90 days of the purchase date. Once validated, travellers must exit the country within six hours, or the transaction will be cancelled.

4. VAT Refund On Purchases
In addition to tax-free eligibility, tourists can also claim a VAT refund on eligible purchases made at Planet-partner stores. Refunds can be processed at airport validation counters by presenting your tax invoices, passport and credit card. Refunds are available either in cash (UAE currency) or credited back to your card. It’s imperative to keep in mind that items consumed fully or partially in the UAE are not eligible for refunds. This also applies to products that are not in your possession when departing the country.

5. Free Public Parking For People Of Determination
Tourists with special needs/People of Determination (PoD), can benefit from free public parking across Dubai for up to three months. Applications can be submitted via the RTA website or app. Alternatively they can be submitted in person at any RTA Customer Happiness Centre, making mobility around the city more accessible.

6. Taxi Discounts For People Of Determination
If you don’t plan to drive while visiting Dubai, People of Determination can also enjoy a 50% discount on taxi fares by obtaining a Sanad card. This card is issued by the Community Development Authority (CDA), and visitors can apply for it through the CDA website or at a CDA Customer Happiness Centre. Applicants must present their passport, a personal photograph, and a medical report or disability card from their home country.
