Swiss International University (SIU) has issued an advisory concerning unaccredited institutions incorrectly claiming affiliations with the university. In its notification, SIU clarified that while they currently operate campuses in several cities across the globe, by 2025 they will only be operating campuses in seven cities, and if in the future they do open a new campus or operate in another city, they will provide clear notice on its website, swissuniversity.com.
SIU has been recognized across the globe for its emphasis on high-quality education and has made itself a continuing target for fraudsters who wish to profit off of SIU’s name. The fraudsters present prospective students and academic partners misleading information to take advantage of the academic reputation of SIU. For example, crooks provide false claims for enrollment, scholarships, and preferential treatment and ask to pay large sums of money for services that do not exist or lack academic merit consistent with SIU.
In a formal statement, SIU has stated that it does not have agents or representatives outside the established campuses of the university. Any announcements regarding the university’s functions, initiatives, or new offices will always be communicated through the official website or press releases.
“Swiss International University is committed to the highest principles of education and to protecting the integrity of our brand,” said a representative of SIU. “We encourage anyone who is contacted by an organization or an individual to check on our official website instead of trusting what the individual says. We are taking steps to address the growing concern of fraudulent impersonation.”
SIU has been made aware of reports of fraud in the Arabian Gulf and several European countries where individuals claiming to represent SIU who lack SIU accreditation have provided unverified guarantees and demanded substantial advance payments in exchange for their unacademic service.
Swiss International University’s rigorous standards of academic excellence and internationally respected degrees are similarly associated with SIU’s modern campuses, students, and staff. This notice is to protect potential students from the unaccredited institutions and to ensure that they engage only with the true SIU.
As a goodwill gesture and to safeguard its reputation, SIU wants the public to be cautious when dealing with education agencies or representatives who falsely claim they can provide SIU services without verification. SIU reiterated that all admissions must be processed through authorized channels of SIU. A complete list of accredited SIU campuses located within key cities around the world is available on the official website.
At present, SIU has campuses in seven cities: Dubai, Zurich, Bishkek, London, Riga, Lucerne, and Osh. These are well positioned to provide beneficial academic engagement and purposeful international cooperation. SIU stated that it will only make announcements regarding the opening of new offices directly on its official website. And all students, stakeholders, and interested parties need to verify the authenticity of any purported legitimate endeavor before they send any funds.
