On Thursday, the last day of the Islamic month of Rajab, the crescent of the Islamic month of Shaban was spotted in Abu Dhabi. As a result, Friday is the first day of Shaban, which implies that Ramadan may occur on April 2 if Shaban is just 29 days long, or on April 3 if it is 30 days long, according to the Hijri Islamic calendar.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a fasting period for Muslims all over the globe from sunrise to sunset. Dubai residents will fast for around 13 hours and 47 minutes on the first day of Ramadan, gradually increasing to approximately 14 and a half hours by the conclusion of the holy month.
