To commemorate the commencement of Ramadan, which is set to begin on Saturday, April 2, 2022, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched a new “one billion meals campaign.”
The campaign’s goal for the previous two years has been to attain the target amount during the 30 days of Ramadan. However, Sheikh Mohammed emphasised this year that the effort will continue in the future years until the target is met. It will begin on Ramadan’s first day.

The tweet added, ‘He who is full and his neighbour is hungry, does not believe. 800 million people suffer from hunger around the world and our humanity and our religion push us to extend a helping hand.’
The campaign builds on the success of the Ruler of Dubai’s previous two community programmes, which were launched in 2020. The initial campaign established a target of 10 million meals, with earnings going to areas affected by Covid-19. The goal was met in less than a week, with 11 million meals secured just seven days into Ramadan.
