Maybe it’s just me, but after all the jam-packed festivities we had last month – from Eid Al Etihad to Christmas and then New Year’s – I’m really missing all the sweet time off we had in December. If you’re feeling the same way, glad to know I’m not alone. Come with me, and we can find out together when the next Public Holiday in UAE is!
Eid Al Fitr
The next public holiday in UAE to look forward to is Eid Al Fitr, a cherished Islamic occasion that signals the end of Ramadan. This festive break typically brings a few days off for everyone to relax and celebrate with loved ones. While the exact dates haven’t been confirmed yet, UAE astronomers predict Eid Al Fitr to happen between (Shawwal 1-3) Monday, March 31 – Wednesday, April 2, 2025, as Ramadan is predicted to end around Saturday, March 29, 2025. However, official confirmation can only happen closer to the time.

Why The Wait For Confirmation?
If you’re wondering why the dates aren’t 100% confirmed, it’s because the UAE follows the Islamic lunar calendar to determine key holidays. Unlike the Gregorian calendar, which runs on the sun’s cycle with fixed days, the lunar Hijri calendar is based on the moon’s phases. This means that Islamic months can have 29 or 30 days, and the exact start of holidays like Eid Al Fitr depends on the sighting of the crescent moon. As a result, official announcements usually happen just a few days before the holiday begins. So, if you’re planning a getaway to celebrate Eid Al Fitr, I would recommend waiting until February to book your days off so that you don’t accidentally use up any more PTO than you have to.
Though the dates are still tentative, the end of March promises a well-deserved break for Eid Al Fitr. Until then, let’s hang tight, and enjoy the cool winter in season in Dubai while we can
