According to Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office, it’s about protecting how these cultural symbols are used in the media – especially because of the deep meaning they hold in UAE society. Instead of limiting creative expression, the regulation wants to make sure these traditions are represented correctly and respectfully. The Dress Code
Another part of the policy says that if someone appears in Emirati national attire (like advertisements) they must actually be Emirati. The regulation has actually been in place for about three months. It clearly states that only Emiratis can use the local dialect while speaking about projects in the media.
