A newly opened bridge on Sheikh Zayed Road now offers a direct route to the Mall of the Emirates, cutting down travel times and easing congestion in the bustling Al Barsha area! About time, amirite? I have all the deets you want to know, so keep reading to find out more.
A Massive Time Saver
This 300-meter bridge is a dream come true for drivers. If you’re coming from Abu Dhabi via Sheikh Zayed Road, the trip that used to take 10 minutes now takes just one! Those approaching from Umm Suqeim will also notice a huge difference, with travel times reduced from 15 minutes to just 8.

Part Of A Bigger Vision
This bridge is just one aspect of a massive AED 165 million initiative aimed at transforming the Al Barsha area. In partnership with Majid Al Futtaim, RTA is revamping the neighbourhood under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Here’s what’s in store:
- Road Revamps: Resurfacing older road sections in Al Barsha for smoother drives.
- New Traffic Flow: The street next to Kempinski Hotel is becoming a two-way road, making navigation easier.
- Intersection Improvements: The Umm Suqeim ramp is being widened to ease the flow of cars toward the mall’s parking areas.
More Than Just A Road Revamp
The upgrades don’t stop with drivers. Pedestrian walkways and cycle paths are getting much-needed attention, along with bus stations, rainwater drainage systems, and landscaped spaces. Every detail is being fine-tuned to create a better experience for all who live, work, and travel through Al Barsha.
With this new 300-metre long bridge, directly leading straight to the Mall of the Emirates, whether you’re shopping, dining, or just passing through, you’ll feel the difference every time you hit the road in Al Barsha!
