Following revisions to the national service programme, Emirati high school graduates will now be required to serve in the Armed Forces for a minimum of 11 months. Emiratis who depart with a diploma or credentials must now serve only 11 months. The previous restriction was 16 months.
The national service term for male recruits – holding a high school diploma or its equivalent and above – has been shortened to 11-month, and for those who didn't finish their high school, the term will be three years, a Ministry of Defence statement said on Thursday. #WamNews pic.twitter.com/FcM9qNM1PJ

Emiratis who do not complete high school or leave without a certificate or credentials must service in the Armed Forces for three years. Women can also volunteer if they want to fulfil their 11-month obligation. National service is mandatory for Emirati men between the ages of 18 and 30, and voluntary for those between the ages of 30 and 40.
