This is why residents in the UAE who fail to comply with regulations can result in hefty fines. There are 14 violations in the country for mismanaging your Emirates ID that can leave you with fines of up to AED 20,000. Violations & Penalties

1. General Violations

According to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), there are several violations related to Emirates ID and visa services, with fines ranging from AED 20 per day to AED 20,000. Here are the details:

1. Late Registration and Renewal: Not registering for or renewing your ID within 30 days results in a daily fine of AED 20, capping at AED 1,000.
2. Inaccurate Information: Providing false data incurs a fine of AED 3,000.
3. System Misuse: Misusing the system can cost you AED 5,000.
4. Non-Existent Facilities: Issuing visas to non-existent facilities leads to a steep fine of AED 20,000.

2. Residency & Foreign Affairs Fines

The ICP also lists six fines of AED 500 each for residency and foreign affairs violations, including:

1. Submitting unrelated transactions
2. Entering incorrect data via e-dirham
3. Expired representative card
4. Not carrying the card during transactions
5. Violating service centre rules
6. Non-compliance with ICP pledges

3. Handling Lost Or Damaged Emirates IDs

If you lose or damage your Emirates ID, you must replace it immediately. The replacement fee is AED 300, plus AED 70 for applications through typing centres or AED 40 for online applications. There’s also an express service available for an additional AED 150.

Exemptions From Late Renewal Fines

Under certain conditions, you can request an exemption from late renewal fines. The ICP has specific criteria for these exemptions:

1. Extended Absence: If you’ve been out of the country for over three months and your ID expired during that time.
2. Deportation: If your ID expires due to deportation or legal issues, with proof from authorities.
3. New Nationals: Individuals who obtained UAE nationality and ID after their ID expired.
4. Medical Issues: Bedridden, contagious diseases, or disabilities, with a medical certificate.
5. Diplomatic Staff: Diplomats and their families.
6. Elderly: Those over 70 who cannot visit service centres.
7. Social Security Beneficiaries: Emiratis under social security with proof of financial status.
8. Technical Errors: Delays due to computer errors.
