Onam weekend flew by with reunions, sadhyas and payasam-induced food coma. With Prophet Muhammad’s birthday coinciding with the Onam weekend, Malayalis across the UAE had a full-fledged Onam celebration that lasted for full four days (of which three days were holidays). I know, sheer luck, right? But, by any chance if you missed hogging the Onam Sadhya this weekend (sad yeah?), worry not, you still stand a chance. Yup, we still have a few restaurants serving up sadhyas this week as well. And guess what, I’ve put them here for you so you can stop dreaming about those banana leaves laden with sumptuous dishes and actually dive into them. Without further ado, here’s the list:

Malabar Tiffin House
Yup, they’re serving Onam Sadhya this weekend too, that is on Friday, 12 Sep & Saturday, 13 Sep, but here’s the tweak nobody saw coming. They’re not just going to be serving the OG sadya; you’d also get to try their non-veg Onam Sadhya for AED 60. For those frowning, I feel you, but here’s the thing – Non-veg sadhyas are an integral part of the Onam celebrations in North Kerala. In fact, North Malayalis would vouch that we’re completely missing out if we aren’t digging into Karimeen Pollichathu on a banana leaf on Uthradam day. Anyway, the point is, you can try it for yourself at MTH this weekend if you’re the adventurous kind. Or you can go for their regular veg sadya for AED 45 (dine-in) and AED 49 (take-away).

Grandeur Hotel
Craving a mid-week Onam Sadhya with your crew? Well, I’ve got the perfect place for you. Grandeur Hotel in Al Barsha (Behind Mall of The Emirates) is celeberating this season with a grand Onam Sadhya. They’re open to only exclusive group reservations, so it’ll be a good idea to call them up for securing a slot. The Onam Sadhyas are served until Wednesday, 10 September, in case you were wondering!
