We’re back once again to give you all the major changes that are coming to Dubai so that you never feel out of the loop. Here are all the major changes you need to look out for this February.
1. Petrol Prices Likely To Increase Increase

If you drive in Dubai, brace yourself – it looks like, for the first time since December 2024, petrol prices in the UAE may increase. Since 2015, the UAE has adjusted petrol prices monthly to align with global rates, and January 2025 saw global oil prices climbing above $81 a barrel. This means that a price hike is more than expected for next month. Official petrol prices will be released on Friday, January 31st so stay tuned to Gulf Buzz socials to find out how much you’ll be having to pay for petrol in February.
Here’s what fuel prices looked like in January 2025:
- Super 98: AED 2.61 per litre
- Special 95: AED 2.50 per litre
- E-Plus: AED 2.43 per litre
- Diesel: AED 2.68 per litre
2. AED 6 Salik Fees To Start Officially Begin

Say goodbye to the standard Dhs4 Salik toll fee – from February 1, a variable pricing system will be introduced:
- Peak hours: AED 6
- Off-peak (10 AM – 4 PM, 8 PM – 1 AM): AED 4
- Early morning (1 AM – 6 AM): Free
There will also be a different fee structure during Ramadan, and you can read more about it below.

3. A New Congestion Fee

Announced back in November alongside changes to Salik and parking tariffs, Dubai is introducing a congestion fee in February. Major cities like London, Singapore, and New York have congestion charges to ease traffic, and now Dubai is following suit. Initially, the fee will apply to public paid parking spaces around Dubai World Trade Centre during events. RTA hasn’t released further details yet, but we’ll keep you in the loop, as always!
4. Road Closures To Watch Out For

Not all changes are permanent, but you’ll need to plan around a couple of big road closures in February due to major sporting events:
- Sunday, February 9 – Burj2Burj Marathon: One of the city’s biggest races returns, with road closures between Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab.
- Sunday, February 23 – Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge: Starting at Expo City, this cycling event will lead to restricted road access in several areas.
The RTA will confirm exact road closures closer to the event dates, so keep an eye on their website and Gulf Buzz for all the important updates!
Keep these changes in mind, and you’ll be all set for a smooth February! Never feel out of the loop in Dubai, when you stay tuned to Gulf Buzz!
