Well it looks like this month is a goldmine for public holidays so you won’t have to wait long for another leisurely escape. When Is Islamic New Year 2025?
Since the Islamic calendar (Hijri) is based on the lunar calendar, dates are predicted based on sightings. This year, the first day of Dhu Al Hijjah was on Wednesday, May 28, which lined up Arafah Day for Thursday, June 5, and Eid Al Adha starting on Friday, June 6. The UAE Federal Government have confirmed that Islamic New Year (Hijri New Year) will fall on Friday, June 27, 2025, in the Gregorian calendar. And the best part? Both public and private sector employees will officially get 1 day off, according to the UAE’s 2025 public holiday schedule.
Will There Be Free Parking & Changes To Public Transportation Timings?
Yes, as always it is customary for Dubai to allow the city to have free parking during public holidays. These applies to all paid RTA and Parkin zones, but does not apply to multi-level parking structures. While Dubai RTA has yet to announce this news and what are the changed timings for public transport for this years Islamic New Year public holiday, stay tuned to Gulf Buzz as we’ll be the first ones to update you.
What’s The Celebration All About?
The Islamic New Year, also called Hijri New Year or Al Hijri, marks the start of a fresh year in the Islamic calendar. This year, we’ll be stepping into AH 1447. While it’s a time of reflection in Islamic culture, here in Dubai, it’s also a reason to celebrate! Expect dazzling fireworks, special restaurant deals, and loads of fun family activities happening all over the city. It’s a meaningful day with plenty of good vibes and reasons to get out and enjoy.
How To Turn You One-Day Break Into A Full-On Holiday
Now for the fun part! Want to know the hack you’ll need to turn this one-day holiday into another extended break? Here’s your game plan if you want that sweet, long holiday:
- Take off Monday, June 23
- Take off Tuesday, June 24
- Take off Wednesday, June 25
- Take off Thursday, June 26
By doing this, you’ll land yourself 9 days off in a row, from Saturday, June 21 to Sunday, June 29. Sounds dreamy, right? But if a sweet 3-day long weekend is all you’re looking for then no need to use an PTO days. Either option you choose, you’ll be back to work on Monday, June 30 feeling totally reseted and recharged!
