On 17th September evening, the ballroom at Address Sky View Hotel in Dubai stopped looking like a ballroom. Instead, dermatologists walked into something closer to a working lab. Four distinct stations, each one built around a skin concern most of them deal with daily. Repair. Hyperpigmentation. Acne and Photoprotection. It was La Roche-Posay’s way of doing something most brand events don’t bother with – actually showing the science, not just talking about it. I have all the brilliant details you need to know, so keep reading to find out more.
Not Your Average Industry Evening
The event was called The Expert Lab, and the name wasn’t just branding. Every corner of the space was designed around the idea that dermatologists shouldn’t have to take a brand’s word for it. They should get to see the mechanism, try the formula, and read the data themselves. Guests picked up a journey card at registration, along with an NFC name tag that let them scan into each station as they went. It’s a small detail, but it meant the night had an actual flow to it. Arrival, a bar area, two media walls, then the four labs, before wrapping up near the stage.
Let’s Take A Closer Look At What Went Behind Each Station
The Acne Lab
The Acne Lab centred on the Effaclar Duo+M routine, powered by an ingredient called Phylobioma. Rather than just listing benefits, the station broke the formula down into what it actually does on skin:
- keratolytic action to help clear pores
- anti-inflammatory and sebum-controlling effects
- antimicrobial properties
And yes, it’s all backed by clinical study results displayed on a touchscreen, so anyone could scroll through the data themselves.
The Hyperpigmentation Lab
The Hyperpigmentation Lab introduced Melasyl and its place in the brand’s approach to uneven skin tone. A skin-analysis device was used to assess visible pigmentation during the event. Guests could also take part in “Mela Hunt,” an activity that used product-related clues to prompt discussion of key benefits.
The Repair Lab
The Repair Lab focused on Cicaplast Baume B5+ and its Tribioma Prebiotic Complex. Interactive panels presented information about ingredients including Vitamin B5 and Madecassoside. A separate indication wall highlighted a range of situations in which dermatologists may consider skin-repair products, from post-procedure care to nappy-area irritation.
The Anthelios Corner
The Anthelios Corner featured three sunscreens selected to reflect different skin needs and indications. Guests could try a brief application demonstration of the Oil Control fluid and use blotting papers to observe its finish. A UV camera also illustrated how sunscreen can appear under UV imaging.
Two Dermatologists, Two Deep Dives
Renowned consultant dermatologists Dr. Ahmed Ameen and Dr. Hussein Abdeldayem led the evening’s talks. Dr. Ameen discussed the skin microbiome and its relevance to acne management, including how different approaches may be used in clinical practice. Dr. Abdeldayem spoke about hyperpigmentation, including melasma and post-inflammatory marks, and discussed Melasyl in that context. Both speakers also highlighted the role of sun protection in skincare, particularly the importance of daily protection as part of a broader approach to managing these skin concerns.
What Made This A Stand Out Night For The Crowd
What made The Expert Lab different was the opportunity for dermatologists to explore product information, demonstrations and study materials in one place. [SM1] Once the journey was complete, guests collected their giveaways at the redemption corner. A set spanning the Anthelios, Cicaplast, Effaclar and MelaB3 ranges featured throughout the night, a fitting send-off for an evening built entirely around proof, not just promises. This focus on dermatological expertise reflects La Roche-Posay’s position as the world’s No. 1 skincare brand recommended by dermatologists*.
Najah Sinno, Medical & Aesthetics Director, L’Oréal Dermatological Beauty GCC, stated: “The Expert Lab underscores our commitment to fostering rigorous scientific dialogue within the medical community. By bridging clinical research and everyday practice, we aim to support healthcare professionals with advanced scientific understanding to optimize patient outcomes.”
