Among them were five outstanding Emirati athletes proudly representing the UAE National Team. The goal? To prepare for the upcoming 2024 Youth Olympic Games in Italy. Each day concluded with a spectacular awards ceremony at Ski Dubai, where the Top 3 Female and Male winners of both the UAE Para Alpine Ski Slalom and UAE FIS Alpine Ski Slalom Competitions were celebrated. From a handful of athletes in 2021 to six talented snow sports enthusiasts in 2023, the progress was evident. El Etri emphasised the importance of partnerships with the UAE Winter Sports Federation and Dubai Sports Council, contributing to the establishment of Ski Dubai as a global snow sports destination in the heart of the desert.

UAE’s Rise On The Global Skiing Stage

Hamel Al Qubaisi, Vice President, UAE Winter Sports Federation, applauded the achievements of the national athletes, emphasizing their competency in snow sports. Among the 47 competitors, the UAE athletes consistently ranked in the top 10, showcasing their prowess on the international stage. Al Qubaisi expressed the federation’s commitment to sustainable development and inclusiveness, sharing expertise with other nations and integrating snow sports successfully since 2021.

UAE’s Remarkable Recognition In Snow Sports

With the UAE’s full membership in the International Ski Federation in 2022, Ski Dubai, in collaboration with FIS, UAE Winter Sports Federation, Dubai Sports Council, and UAE Paralympic Committee, is set to host a total of 12 international-level snow sport events this year. This recognition marks the United Arab Emirates’ prominent position on the global skiing map.
