What Is Sikka Art & Design Festival?
Launched in 2011 by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Sikka was created to give emerging Emirati and GCC artists a space to shine. Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the festival has grown into one of the most important events under Dubai Art Season. Every year, Sikka brings together artists from the UAE and across the GCC to showcase work that reflects identity, heritage and the future. All set within one of Dubai’s most historic neighbourhoods.

Why Al Shindagha Makes It Extra Special
Sikka doesn’t happen in a typical gallery. It comes alive across the paved alleyways, courtyards and heritage homes of Al Shindagha Historic District. Old houses turn into exhibition spaces, rooftops host installations, and quiet corners suddenly fill with music, film and conversation.
What You Can Expect At Sikka 2026
This year’s festival promises an expanded and more immersive programme, blending contemporary creativity with Emirati heritage. You can explore themed houses and galleries showcasing painting, photography, illustration, digital art, sculpture and mixed media. As you wander through the neighbourhood, you’ll stumble upon site-specific installations tucked into alleyways and courtyards. Perfect for slow strolls and photo moments.
As the sun sets, Sikka truly comes alive with live music, experimental performances and theatre shows, alongside outdoor film screenings under the night sky. There will also be talks and panel discussions featuring artists, curators and cultural leaders, covering everything from heritage preservation to new media and creative careers.

Get Hands-On With Workshops For All Ages
Visitors can sign up for beginner-friendly workshops including drawing, ceramics, printmaking, calligraphy, photography walks and craft sessions. These are designed for both adults and children, making it a great family-friendly outing where you can actually take something home with you.
Food, Coffee & Social Vibes
Between exhibitions and performances, you can refuel at coffee stands, food pop-ups and culinary concepts spread across the neighbourhood. Sikka is just as much a social hangout as it is an art festival. Expect relaxed vibes, conversations with artists and plenty of places to pause and soak it all in.
Getting There Is Easy As Pie
Al Shindagha is well-connected and easy to reach. Al Ghubaiba Metro Station (Green Line) is a short walk away, and visitors can also arrive by bus, taxi or ride-hailing apps. For a more scenic route, hop on a traditional abra across Dubai Creek or take the Dubai Ferry to Al Ghubaiba Marine Station. Limited parking is available nearby, so arriving early on weekends is recommended.
