Getting a driving license in the UAE usually means shelling out a fair bit of cash, but not if you’re one of Sharjah’s top high school grads! Sharjah Police just dropped a super cool initiative that basically says, “Congrats on smashing your exams! Here, have a driving licence. On the house.” Thanks to this brand-new initiative by Sharjah Police, you could be driving into uni life without spending a single dirham!

What’s the FREE Driving License Deal?
Say hello to the Excellence License. This new initiative rewards the top 10 graduates from government schools in Sharjah with a completely free driving license. Basically, if you aced your exams, this is your gold-star reward – and a super useful one too!

Who’s Making It Happen?
This isn’t a solo gig. In fact, this initiative is being rolled out in collaboration with four major players, each bringing their expertise to the table to make sure everything runs smoothly:
- The Ministry of Education is ensuring that top students are recognised and nominated fairly.
- The Sharjah Private Education Authority is helping coordinate across schools to identify eligible grads.
- The Sharjah Driving Institute and Belhasa Driving Institute – two of the most trusted names in the UAE when it comes to driving – are handling the actual training, tests, and everything in between.
What Exactly Is Covered When They Say “FREE Driving License”?
When they say free, they mean completely free – no hidden charges, no loopholes. Here’s what the Excellence License covers:
- Opening your driving file – which is usually the first (and slightly annoying) step.
- Eye tests – because clear vision is key to safe driving.
- Theory classes and practical training – so you’re not just passing the test, but actually learning to drive well.
- Both theoretical and practical exams – and yes, even retakes if needed.
- Final licence issuance – the shiny little card that makes you officially road-ready.
It’s the full journey from “I don’t even know how to hold the steering wheel” to “Watch me parallel park like a pro” – and it won’t cost you a fils.

Why Is Sharjah Police Doing This?
The idea is to help students who’ve worked hard become more independent and responsible as they head into the next chapter of their lives – whether that’s university, a new job, or just life in the real world. It’s not just about driving; it’s about confidence, freedom, and celebrating academic excellence in a meaningful way.
There’s Something for Police Families Too
Not in the top 10 but still part of the Sharjah Police fam? Don’t worry, they’ve got you covered too. The License for the Children of Givers initiative gives a 50% discount on driving training fees for grads whose parents work with Sharjah Police.
This offer is valid all through the summer break! So there’s plenty of time to hop on board, save money, and maybe even surprise your parents by offering to drive them for once.
More Than Just a License
Both initiatives are about more than just getting young people behind the wheel. They’re about building a culture of safe, responsible driving while rewarding the ones who’ve worked hard for it.
If you’re a recent high school grad in Sharjah who’s either topped the charts or got a parent in the police force – this summer could be your time to shine… and drive!
Go ahead, claim that license! You’ve earned it.
