How are we already halfway through Ramadan? Honestly, it’s beyond me! Anyway, the point is Karama’s Ramadan Street Food Festival just rung in its final week! And if you haven’t hit the Ramadan Street Food Festival yet, this is your last chance! The festival is running only until Sunday, 23rd March and believe us, it’s totally worth the trip. From classic iftar snacks to elaborate meals, there’s a whole array of food items awaiting you. We spent the evening stall-hopping to give you a glimpse of what is in store for you. And here’s all that you must try before the festival officially wraps up.
1. Mohabbat Ka Sharbat

This watermelon-infused milk drink is lightly sweet, chilled, and a refreshing start before diving into heavier bites. Available for just AED 7 at Mara Mari, this drink kicks off the mood for a night of indulgence at Karama’s Ramadan Street Food Festival.

2. Potato Twister Dripped with Mayo

“Mister, sister, please try our potato twister”, this dialogue lingered in the air long after I walked past the stall. I couldn’t but help pondering it and bursting into peals of laughter at the clever wordplay. And guess what happened next? I took U-turn and went back to try this item that tickled my funny bone and won me over already. Now, how does crispy, spiral-cut potatoes fried golden brown and drizzled with creamy mayo sound? Yep – simple, fun and absolutely delicious and that’s exactly how it turned out! Available at multiple spots across the festival, this AED 11 item is a solid pick for those who love their crunch with a side of indulgence.
3. Uppilitta Manga from City Makani

A true taste of nostalgia for South Indians! Uppilitta manga (salt-brined raw mango) is the ultimate throwback to childhood summers – tangy, salty, and refreshingly simple. It’s the kind of snack that instantly transports you to an old-school kitchen where mangoes were soaked in saltwater and eaten straight from the jar. If you’re into bold flavors that hit all the right notes of sour and salty, this one from City Makani is a must-try.
4. Sev Puri from Chaat Bazaar

Chaat Bazaar is one of the most popular chaat spots in Karama, so spotting their stall at the festival got us ecstatic. Their sev puri is everything you’d expect – crispy puris loaded with potatoes, spicy-sweet chutneys, tangy yogurt, and a generous sprinkle of sev. One bite, and it’s an explosion of flavors and textures that deserves a second round.

5. Kothu Porotta from Kaara Saaram

More than just food – ordering this item totally passes the vibe check! The chefs at Kaara Saaram put on a show, rhythmically shredding flaky porottas with eggs, meat, and spicy curry on a sizzling hot griddle. The sound, the aroma, and the live-action chopping all add to the experience, making this Tamil-style kothu porotta a festival highlight. Bonus: You can even groove to the beats of the chef’s knife as they work their magic. All this just for AED 5!!
6. Sticky Prawns from Yummy Chicken

Seafood lovers, there’s something spectacular awaiting you for just ten bucks! Juicy prawns coated in a sticky, sweet, and spicy glaze, served on skewers for easy munching. If you’re looking for a meaty deal at Karama’s Ramadan Street Food Festival, they also have sticky chicken strips on skewers, offering the same addictive glaze.
7. Pazhampori Beef

A combo that might sound unusual at first but just works. The sweet, crispy banana fritters (pazhampori) pair beautifully with the spicy, slow-cooked beef, creating a sweet-savory contrast that Malayalis swear by. If you’re not into beef, don’t worry – this stall also serves:
Pidiyum Kozhiyum – A homely dish of rice dumplings and coconut-based chicken curry.
Kappa Mathi Curry – Mashed tapioca served with a fiery sardine curry, bringing out the bold coastal flavors of Kerala.
8. Pistachio or Blueberry Jar Cake

In the mood for something rich and indulgent? These layered jar cakes hit the spot. Whether you go for the nutty pistachio or the fruity blueberry, each spoonful is a creamy, dreamy delight. For just AED 10, this is perfect for those who like their desserts with a side of aesthetics. Grab this one from Arippa Restaurant!
9. Cintafresh Palada Payasam Ice Cream

A fusion that makes total sense – creamy, traditional palada payasam turned into ice cream. If you love classic Kerala desserts but want a cool twist, this is a must-try. But if you prefer the OG version, you can opt for a cup of warm payasam instead and sip your way to sweet satisfaction.

10. Uppilitta Ice Cream
Now, here’s something truly offbeat. A salted ice cream inspired by the concept of brined mango? It’s intriguing, unexpected, and definitely a conversation starter. We haven’t tried it yet, but it’s one of those flavors you just have to experience for yourself.
