Pull out your coin purse, because you’ll need an extra dirham after hearing this news. RTA has announced a small fare update across all taxis, plus new weekday and weekend pricing. From ride hailing apps, to hopping into a classic Dubai cab on the street, they’re all getting the same price hike. Keep reading for all the details you need to know, before your next taxi ride.

A New Minimum Fare
The starting price for taxi rides booked through an app is now AED 13, up from AED 12. This base fare is what you’ll pay before adding in the distance and waiting time. So yes, your ride might cost a little more, but don’t worry, it’s luckily not a major jump!
The New Fares
From Monday to Thursday, during peak times times, 8am to 9:59am and 4pm to 7:59pm (until 9:59pm on Fridays), the booking fee will now be AED 7.50, while the starting fare (the “flagfall”) stays at AED 5. And on Fridays from 10pm until 11:59pm, the booking fee will be AED 7.50, while the flagfall will be AED 5.50.
For off peak hours, the booking fee drops to AED 4, with the starting fare still at AED 5. Night owls taking taxis between 10pm and 5:59am will pay a slightly higher AED 4.50 booking fee and AED 5.50 to start their ride.
On Saturdays and Sundays, peak-hour booking fee of AED 7.50 will apply from 4pm until 9:59pm (flagfall of AED 5), and 10pm until 11:59pm (flagfall of AED 5.50).
