RTA is turning a bright spotlight on road safety – and they want the students of Dubai behind the camera! The Road Safety Film Festival is a competition aimed at university and postgraduate students, inviting them to create short films that raise awareness about the causes, dangers and severities of traffic accidents. Not only will this platform give young talent the opportunity to showcase their abilities but their powerful messages will also help keep the roads of Dubai much safer for everyone.

The Theme: Lights, Camera, Safety!
This year’s competition focuses on 3 specific traffic issues:
- Sudden lane departures: a major cause of dangerous road situations
- Driving distractions: think mobile phones, loud music, eating, doing makeup – really anything that takes your eyes off the road
- Unsafe riding of bicycles and e-scooters: a growing concern as more people use these soft mobility options
RTA has hand-picked these themes based on recent traffic data showing that these 3 factors are among the top contributors to road accidents in the city.
