Dubai Police is stepping up its efforts to make roads safer by using advanced radars to monitor tailgating and other such violations to issue fines to offenders. AI-Powered Radars For Tailgating Violations
With an increased amount of offenders, Dubai authorities have decided to take stricter action – tailgating now carries a fine of AED 400 and four black points on your record. The General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police announced that the new AI-powered have gone through a thorough trial period to ensure they work with precision, before they are successfully rolled out in Dubai. (Although we are still unsure what these cameras will look like, yet).
Other Road Violations Detectable By The AI Radars & Their Fines
These advanced radars are equipped to do more than just identify tailgating vehicles – they are also designed to identify multiple traffic violations:
1. Excessive Vehicle Noise:
- AED 2,000 fine
- 12 black points
2. Speeding Violations:
- Exceeding speed limit by over 80 km/h = AED 3,000 fine, 60-day vehicle impoundment, 23 black points
- Exceeding by 60 km/h = AED 2,000 fine, 20-day vehicle impoundment, 12 black points
- Exceeding by 50 km/h = AED 1,000 fine
- Exceeding by 40 km/h = AED 700 fine
- Exceeding by 30 km/h = AED 600 fine
- Exceeding by 20 km/h = AED 300 fine
3. Running A Red Light:
- AED 1,000 fine
- 30-day vehicle impoundment
- 12 black points
4. Lane Violations:
- Failing to stay in the mandatory lane = AED 400 fine
- Not following lane restrictions = AED 1,500 fine, 12 black points
5. Driving Against Traffic:
- AED 600 fine, 7-day vehicle impoundment, 4 black points
6. Hard Shoulder Violations:
- AED 1,000 fine
- 30-day vehicle impoundment
- 6 black points
7. Seatbelt and Mobile Phone Violations:
- Not wearing a seatbelt = AED 400 fine, 4 black points
- Using a phone while driving = AED 800 fine, 4 black points
- Excessive window tinting = AED 1,500 fine
8. Failing To Give Way To Pedestrians At Designated Pedestrian Crossings;
- AED 500 fine
- 6 black points
9. Illegal Turns:
- AED 500 fine
- 4 black points
10. Expired Vehicle Registration:
- AED 500 fine
- 4 black points
11. Illegal Stopping:
- Stopping in the middle of the road without reason = AED 1,000 fine, 6 black points
- Heavy vehicles entering restricted areas = AED 1,000 fine, 4 black points
- Obstructing vehicles by stopping behind them = AED 500 fine
