I’m talking about none other than The Palm Jebel Ali, which is finally springing back into action after more than a decade of dormancy! That’s right the construction on the Palm Jebel Ali has been brought back to life after being abandoned back in 2008. Now, over 15 years later, I’m here to tell you everything we know about this ambitious project and what’s coming to Dubai very soon!

Construction Restarts On Palm Jebel Ali
Last year, Nakheel announced plans to revive the project, and now, contracts have been awarded to kickstart construction again. On August 26, Dubai’s government revealed that AED 810 million had been earmarked for marine works, including dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement. The Jan De Nul Group, a global leader in dredging and marine engineering, will be handling the job. The goal is to have the island’s infrastructure ready by early next year, which means civil work and villa construction could follow shortly after. This is a huge step forward for the project, which has been at a standstill ever since 2008.
The Vision For Palm Jebel Ali
Once completed, Palm Jebel Ali will be an impressive feat of engineering and design. Spanning 13.4 kilometres of land and offering 10.5 million square meters of development, this mega-island will feature 110 kilometres of coastline and 91 kilometres of beachfront. It’s expected to house up to 35,000 families and will offer everything from luxurious villas to at least 80 state-of-the-art hotels and resorts.
But it’s not just about size – Palm Jebel Ali is also a key part of Dubai’s Urban Master Plan for 2040. The city is planning to grow its population to 5.8 million people by then, and Palm Jebel Ali will play a major role in this vision. It’s also expected to significantly increase the amount of public beachfront available in the city.

What’s In Store For Palm Jebel Ali?
This island will be a hub of activity, featuring new restaurants, bars, beach clubs and plenty more to explore. Real estate agents are already buzzing about the villas, which are set to be handed over as early as 2027 – which is less than 3 years away! These homes will offer beach connectivity, enhanced privacy, lush greenery, panoramic views, and a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living.
Several key projects are also planned for the island, including:

- Family Resort: A family-friendly destination with a range of amenities.
- Eco-Resort: A sustainable retreat focused on eco-friendly living.
- Signature Yacht Club: A luxurious spot for yacht owners and enthusiasts.

There’s also talk of a central tower with 360-degree panoramic views, along with town centres on both crescents of the island.
When Will Palm Jebel Ali Be Ready?
While an official completion date hasn’t been set, but since this project is a key part of Dubai’s Urban Master Plan for 2040, we can expect to see major progress over the next few years.
