It looks like the Dubai Metro changes its station names as much as I change my outfits for work each morning (which makes us twins, I love it)! Just as we’d gotten used to Mashreq Metro Station being renamed Insurance Market, the Dubai Metro has changed yet another station’s name. Come with me to find out if this station is on your daily commute and what it’s new name is.

What’s Changing & When?
On the red line (closer towards Expo City 2020 and UAE Exchange) Al Khail Metro Station has officially been rebranded as Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station as part of a new partnership with RTA. And that’s not all – from April until June 2025, the RTA will be rolling out updates across the station, ensuring its new identity is reflected everywhere.

What Other Dubai Metro Stations Have Changed Names?
Maybe you’ve been in the city well before the Dubai Metro was even a thing and maybe you’re new in town – so let me refresh your memory of a few station name changes that have happened over the years:
- Mashreq Metro Station → InsuranceMarket Metro Station (2023)
- Al Safa Metro Station → Onpassive Metro Station (2023)
- Dubai Marina Metro Station → Sobha Realty Metro Station (2021)
- Al Jaffliya Metro Station → Max Fashion Metro Station (2021)
- Al Rashdiya Metro Station → Centrepoint Metro Station (2021)
And here’s a fun fact for you: Companies can secure naming rights for up to 10 years, giving their brand daily exposure to thousands of commuters on the road!
So, if you could decide what a new Dubai Metro station could be called, what would you name it?
