Dubai is set to bring about a new era of transportation, revolutionizing the way people travel with Dubai Flying Taxis. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced on Twitter that air taxis will begin operating in Dubai in just three years.

Sheikh Mohammed Announces Dubai Flying Taxis
Dubai is set to become the world’s first city with a fully-developed network of vertiports after the UAE Vice-President approved the design for new air taxi stations in the city. This development will revolutionize the way people travel, offering an eco-friendly, efficient and fast mode of transportation.

The aerial taxis will have top speeds of 300 kmph and a maximum range of 241 km, making it an ideal option for both short and long-distance trips. The air taxis will be able to seat a pilot and four passengers, providing a comfortable and safe journey for all. The initial launch network will connect four main areas in Dubai, including the Dubai International Airport, Downtown Dubai, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina.

Dubai is working with leading companies, Skyports Infrastructure and Joby Aviation, to design and develop the infrastructure for the launch of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) operations by 2026. The air taxis will offer a smooth end-to-end passenger journey, with zero emissions, making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly option.

Visitors at the World Government Summit (WGS) had the opportunity to experience the flying taxis for themselves through a simulation at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) stand. The simulation showed air taxis soaring past popular Dubai landmarks, such as the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Frame, and Burj Al Arab. With vertical take-off and landing facilities, the aircraft will have a fast turnaround time, providing a convenient and time-efficient mode of transportation for travelers.
