Hold onto your magic carpets, because the House of Mouse is moving into the desert – and we’re not talking about a cameo from Abu the monkey. That’s right, Disneyland is officially on the way to UAE, and it’s bringing the whole crew to Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Yep, all of them are prepping for their entry- Elsa’s frosting the timelines, Buzz is scouting new galaxies, Simba’s probably sunbathing on the Corniche, and Iron Man’s picking his suit for Yas Island. And we’re so sure your inner child just screamed louder than Goofy on a rollercoaster hearing this news!

The Magic Kingdom Meets the Desert Vibes
Disneyland Abu Dhabi won’t just be a copy-paste version of the OGs – it’s being called “authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati.” Translation? All your fave Disney magic, but with regional flair. Think mash-ups of global fairy tales and local traditions, desert vibes with pixie dust, and storytelling that celebrates the UAE’s culture, heritage, and futuristic energy. We’re talking reimagined characters, all-new worlds tailor-made for this region, and experiences that scream “this could only happen here.” Yup, we’re entering our Falcon Princess era. Also, imagine riding a flying carpet across a desert-themed Adventureland? We’re SO sold.
This magical crossover episode stars Disney CEO Bob Iger and Abu Dhabi’s culture kingpin Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, with local legends Miral (the minds behind Ferrari World and Warner Bros World) steering the UAE-side magic. The announcement dropped on May 7 at the W Abu Dhabi, Yas Island – I mean, could there be a better place?

So, When Is Disneyland Abu Dhabi Opening?
Let’s just say… not tomorrow. Don’t book your tickets just yet! Jokes apart, Disney’s top boss, Josh D’Amaro says parks like this take 1-2 years to design and 4-6 years to build. So yeah, patience is a virtue, pal. But hey, the countdown has officially begun with Disney saying yasss to Yas *victory dance*
A teaser video already dropped, teasing appearances from The Lion King, Moana, Marvel, Star Wars, and more. So whether you identify as a Jedi, Avenger, or part-time Polynesian demigod, consider this park your new happy place. And if you’ve ever dreamed of licking a Mickey-shaped ice cream cone under the Arabian sun? Yeah, the universe is listening!
Why Abu Dhabi?
Bob Iger said they scouted the globe but were convinced Yas Island was the perfect place. With 38 million visitors to Yas Island in 2024, and a 20% spike in theme park visits, the numbers were giving theme park energy. Chairman of Disney Experiences, Josh D’Amaro described the location as uniquely positioned on a stunning waterfront, offering creative possibilities unlike anything they’ve done before. The park, he noted, will be the most advanced and interactive destination in Disney’s global portfolio.
This will be Disney’s seventh resort worldwide – joining iconic spots like California, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. It’s also the first-ever Disney theme park in the Middle East, making it a HUGE win for the region.
Yas Island has never done anything halfway, and we’re betting this new Disney addition will be just as over-the-top, dazzling, and Insta-worthy as everything else on the island.
