Why Is The Burj Al Arab Closed?

As of 15 April, the Burj Al Arab is officially closed to guests. The closure is part of a carefully planned restoration led by Jumeirah Group, which is aimed at preserving the hotel’s legacy while giving it a refreshing look. The interiors are set to be upgraded, blending heritage elements with a more contemporary feel. The goal is to elevate the hotel while preserving its signature identity, without reinventing the space entirely.

So, When Will The Burj Al Arab Reopen?

The renovation is expected to take around 18 months. If timelines stay on track, the hotel should reopen by October 2027.

Will The Restaurants Still Be Open?

All dining venues at the hotel are currently closed for refurbishment. This includes:

  • Al Muntaha
  • Sahn Eddar
  • Ristorante L’Olivo at Al Mahara
  • Bab Al Yam
  • Al Iwan
  • Les Desserts
  • Gilt Bar
  • Skyview Lounge

At this stage, there’s no confirmation on whether these venues will return exactly as they are or be reimagined when the hotel reopens.

Beach Club Updates

As much as it’s hard to say goodbye to tanning with a view, the ultra-popular SAL Beach Club has also closed for now. A message on its social channels hints at a ‘new chapter,’ suggesting that the venue could also undergo changes as part of the overall transformation.

Made A Booking? Here’s What Happens To Existing Reservations

Guests who had reservations during the closure period won’t be left hanging. According to statements from senior officials, Jumeirah Group is assisting affected guests with alternative bookings across its other Dubai properties, ensuring plans can continue with minimal disruption.

The Burning Question! What Will The New Burj Al Arab Look Like?

While final designs haven’t been fully revealed, we do know that acclaimed interior architect Trisran Auer has been appointed to lead the restoration of Jumeirah Burj Al Arab. And early glimpses suggest a sophisticated and refined approach.

As a renowned interior architect, Auer will bring his signature approach, blending heritage with modern luxury. Initial design previews hint at warm, neutral tones, refined textures, and more spacious layouts, all while maintaining the grandeur the hotel is known for.

The temporary closure may feel like the end of an era, but think of this as a glow-up in progress. When the doors reopen, expect a refreshed version of one of Dubai’s most legendary landmarks. But until then, keep following Gulf Buzz for all the latest updates and inside scoops.
