The highly anticipated Paris 2024 Olympic Games is happening as we speak! This global event will be hosting over 10,500 athletes from 200 National Olympic Committees competing in 32 sports across 329 events at 35 spectacular venues. And, of course, our beloved Team UAE is also participating this year. The UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC) proudly announced that 15 Emirati athletes will compete in five sports: equestrian, judo, cycling, swimming, and athletics. UAE: A Proud Nation
At the opening ceremony, Omar Al Marzouqi and Safia Al Sayegh had the honour of carrying the UAE flag. Reflecting on the UAE’s Olympic history, they made their debut in the 1984 Los Angeles Games and celebrated their first gold medal in Athens 2004, thanks to Ahmed Al Maktoum in shooting. Additionally, in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Sergiu Toma secured the first bronze medal for the UAE in judo.
